80 percent of applicants to Indiana University-Northwest were admitted for fall 2018

At Indiana University-Northwest, 71 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 70 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Gary enrolled 3,959 students in fall 2018, including 3,534 in undergraduate and 425 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

97 percent of undergraduates are residents of Indiana, and 3 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (52 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (24 percent).

The school admitted 80 percent of the 2,182 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 39 percent enrolled.
