Announcing, Cardinal Connect!
Hello and Happy Friday!
Today we are pleased to announce we are launching a new citizen engagement and crime-fighting initiative called Atlas One. You will hear ECPD refer to it as Cardinal Connect. The app allows the East Chicago Police Department to send geo-fenced push notification alerts when a public safety issue occurs nearby a user’s current location or places residents care about, such as their home, school, or office. Alerts are interactive and can include text, photos, videos, documents, and even voice recordings. In addition, residents will have one-stop-shop access to existing East Chicago Police Department services and resources, such as our website, social media, and contact information. Atlas One will allow residents to submit crime tips and conduct a two-way chat with an officer or police personnel. This app allows for anonymous submissions which mask identity when submitting a tip. This app is not to replace 911 or emergency calls but for citizens to engage and assist in crime tipping. Atlas One was built to offer residents unprecedented access to real-time information while respecting user privacy. Users can be comfortable sharing their location with Atlas One knowing their data is safe. Location access simply allows Atlas One to notify you if an emergency is occurring nearby. Atlas One never tracks historical locations or shares your personal data with any third parties, including East Chicago Police Department. Users can still be notified if alerts occur nearby favorite places, even if they choose not to share their location. Attached is a flyer you can post at your department.
The app is free for the community, and we kindly ask that you download the app on your iPhone or Android device. By downloading the app, you can also receive real-time alerts about ongoing incidents.
