The following day, September 9, 2025, he criticized federal tax policy regarding working families versus wealthier Americans: "Why are the tax benefits for working families temporary, but handouts for billionaires and the privileged are permanent? Communities in Northwest Indiana are struggling with increasing costs and know it’s because the Republican so-called 'One Big Beautiful Bill' is unfair toward".
Later that same day, Mrvan addressed an issue before the House Appropriations Committee: "Today in the House Appropriations Committee markup, I reached across the aisle to urge the Trump Administration to restore full staffing for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a critical federal program that helps working Americans afford utility costs."
