Rep. Frank J. Mrvan explains opposition to GOP spending bill citing veterans’ funding concerns

Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, who represents Indiana’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, announced on November 13, 2025, that he voted against the Republican Majority’s Continuing Resolution. In a series of posts on his official account, Mrvan cited input from constituents and concerns over specific provisions as key reasons for his decision.

In a post dated November 13, 2025, Mrvan stated, "I voted against the Republican Majority’s Continuing Resolution after serious deliberation with my colleagues and with input from constituents who participated in my Community Conversations and contacted my office. I am deeply grateful for the civic engagement and passion that".

He further criticized aspects of the agreement in another post on the same day: "To add further insult, this agreement includes what can only be considered as a corrupt, taxpayer funded cash grab for eight Republican Senators, and I cannot in good conscience agree to vote for that precedent."

Addressing veterans' issues, Mrvan wrote on November 13: "It is also regrettable that this Republican agreement denies our veterans the benefits promised to them by excluding specific advanced funds for the Toxic Exposures Fund. Our brave men and women who have served this nation should not face delays or challenges in receiving their".

Frank J. Mrvan has represented Indiana's 1st District since 2021 after succeeding Pete Visclosky. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the North Township Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2021. Born in Hammond, Indiana in 1969 and currently residing in Highland, Mrvan graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
