2022 CPPD Citizens Police Academy
The Crown Point Police Department is pleased to announce the return of its Citizens Police Academy. Applications for the academy opened today, Monday, Aug. 15.
This is the sixth year the police department has held the academy, which receives dozens of interested applicants annually.
This year, the academy will be held for 10 weeks from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays beginning Thursday, Sept. 8. The academy will take various field trips during the course, however, class will primarily be held at Bulldog Park, located at 183 S. West St.
This course includes:
- An overview of the Crown Point Police Department
- Lessons covering Indiana criminal and traffic law
- Use of force simulators
- Patrol tactics demonstrations
- Training from Ben’s Blue Bags
- Presentations from Indiana HIDTA, NWI Swat and CPPD
Class participants must be at least 18 years of age and a Crown Point resident. Applicants must have a clean criminal record to participate in the academy.
