Men’s Soccer wins Home Opener 3-0 against GLCC
The Calumet College Crimson Wave Men's Soccer team took on the Great Lakes Christian College Crusaders on Saturday for the team's home opener. In an aggressive match-up, the Crusaders and Crimson Wave played a tough 90 minutes with the Wave finishing ahead 3-0 with the team's first goals of the season.
The Wave's first goal was scored at 13:08 by Isa Sayeed with an assist from Jose (Mikey) Hernandez to take the 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Sergio Reyes dribbled to the top of the box and scored the second Wave goal of the contest at 28:03, putting CCSJ ahead 2-0. In the first half alone, the Crimson Wave had 7 shots taken to the Crusaders 6 shots taken.
Battling throughout the second half, the Crimson Wave defense held GLCC from scoring long enough to score their third and final goal at 78:28. Reyes passed the ball to Grek Guzman who took a shot on goal that surprised the Crusaders, securing the 3-0 lead to finish the match.
The Crimson Wave's goalkeeper, Jose Molina, had 4 saves to help the CCSJ defense over the 90 minutes.

The Crimson Wave takes on Trinity Christian on Saturday, September 10th for their first CCAC match of the season.
