FOIA Request to Purdue University Northwest regarding recent course syllabi on August 6, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Purdue University Northwest by The Region News, seeking access to the course syllabi for all undergraduate and graduate courses offered during the Spring 2025 semester. This request was made under the Indiana Access to Public Records Act § 5-14-3-1 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

The request specifically asks for a comprehensive list of syllabi from all departments, schools, and colleges within the university. It includes courses offered in various formats such as in-person, online, or hybrid. Additionally, The Region News has requested metadata associated with each course syllabus. This metadata includes details such as the course title and number, instructor name, department or academic unit, and the delivery format of the course.

As part of their commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, The Region News has also requested a fee waiver for this information due to their role as a media organization. They are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which supports news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
