Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, who represents Indiana’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address issues affecting local families and the agricultural community.

On September 9, 2025, Mrvan commented on rising utility prices, stating, "With NIPSCO rates skyrocketing, I will never stop fighting to bring down energy costs and help families pay their bills so that seniors, veterans, and children can stay warm in the winter."

That same day, he addressed changes to a federal energy assistance program: "In April, the Administration fired the entire federal staff responsible for disbursing LIHEAP, leaving this vital program in the balance. For 15 years as a local elected official, I helped administer LIHEAP in Northwest Indiana, and I know firsthand the lifesaving support this".

On September 10, 2025, Mrvan highlighted his engagement with regional agriculture: "Appreciate the opportunity to meet with members of the @INFarmBureau and see the current crop conditions at Herr Farms in Lowell recently. Grateful for your dedicated contributions to the strength of our region’s agricultural economy."

Frank J. Mrvan has represented Indiana's 1st district since replacing Pete Visclosky in 2021. Before his congressional service, he was a member of the North Township Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2021. Born in Hammond in 1969 and currently residing in Highland, Mrvan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University in 1992.
