Calumet College of St. Joseph Athletics recently issued the following announcement.
Men’s Volleyball defeat Cardinal Stritch 3-2 in 9 game win streak
Thursday, the Calumet College Men's Volleyball team hosted Cardinal Stritch in their second CCAC match of the week.
In the last meeting, the Crimson Wave lost to the Wolves 3-1, but now the Wave was right behind CSU in the CCAC standing and on an 8 game win streak.
The Crimson Wave had a long night ahead of them, but rose to the occasion and took the Wolves to five sets, and finished the night with a 3-2 win to move to 3rd place in the CCAC standings.
In the first set, the Wolves started off ahead, but thanks to a rally while Gianluca Righetto was serving, the Crimson Wave took the lead and held off CSU to win Set 1 25-18.
Cardinal Stritch again took the lead in the second set, but the Crimson Wave couldn't quite catch up, losing Set 25-22.
The third set was a point-to-point match, with Cardinal Stritch pulling ahead at the end to win the match 25-2.
The fourth set was another point-to-point match with the Crimson Wave pulling ahead and winning the set 25-18 to force a 5th set.
In the 5th and final set, the Crimson Wave came from behind and broke away from CSU to win the set 15-10 and defeat the Wolves 3-2.
Francis Hauze led the Crimson Wave with an incredible new CCSJ single match record 43 kills with a Hitting Percentage of .613% and 2 service aces.
The Crimson Wave have a short break until their next CCAC match up on Tuesday at St. Ambrose.
