Calumet College of St. Joseph Athletics recently issued the following announcement.

Baseball wins CCAC Home Opener

Wednesday the Calumet College Baseball team hosted Lincoln College for their first conference matchup of the season. 

Coming back from their spring break trip, the Crimson Wave were fresh and ready for their first 9-inning game of the week. 

The Crimson Wave started the game off strong, scoring at least one run in the first three innings, but the Lynx slowly caught up as they took advantage of opportunities to get on base and score. 

In the 8th inning, Lincoln College tied the game 7-7 after shutting down the Crimson Wave offense for four innings straight. 

In the bottom of the 11th inning, the Crimson Wave had no outs with runners at third and second base and Nicholas Anderson up to bat. 

Anderson singled to left field to score Sean Moore from third base to win the game 8-7. 

Bubba Davenport started on the mound for the Crimson Wave and pitched a full 7 innings, earning 7 strikeouts, but also giving up 3 walks, 3 HBP's, and 6 runs. 

Overall, the Wave defense was solid with just one throwing error throughout the game. In the 8th inning, Gerardo Hernandez went in to pitch for Davenport giving up 1 run with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. 

The Crimson Wave defense shutdown the Lynx in the final three innings to give themselves the opportunity to win the game. 

Anderson was 4-6 at the plate with 3 RBIs, leading the Crimson Wave offense. 

Gabriel Quinones might have been 0-3 on the day but had 3 walks, a stolen base, and scored 2 runs. 

Sean Moore was 1-3 on the day with 3 walks, 2 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. 

Yashion Boswell was also 1-3 with 2 walks and an RBI. 

The Crimson Wave's host St. Xavier next in another 9-inning match-up at Oil City Stadium.
