Calumet College of St. Joseph Athletics recently issued the following announcement.
East Chicago local, Dion Wilson, signs with Sprint Football
Coach Novak's latest signee to the Crimson Wave Sprint Football team was Defensive Line and Full Back, Dion Wilson. Wilson is a local to the Region as a 2019 graduate of East Chicago Central High School. While at E.C. Central, Wilson was also the school's 2019 Mr. Football.
Wilson said "I chose CCSJ because I wanted to be a part of something that's gonna be special in the future. I'm looking forward to most importantly getting my degree, but also winning football games with my teammates and building something special." Wilson will major in Business Management at Calumet College.
The Crimson Wave Sprint Football team will be competing in their inaugural season in the Fall of 2022 in the Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL). Sprint football has the same rules as standard American football except players must maintain a weight limit of 178 pounds. The Midwest Sprint Football League will be playing its inaugural season in the Fall of 2022 with 6 member schools competing, with Calumet College being one of the founding members.
