Elliott Gruss, 34, of Ossian, Indiana, has been sentenced to 180 months in prison following a guilty plea to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady and announced by United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
Gruss's sentence includes five years of supervised release after his prison term.
Court documents reveal that between September and October 2019, Gruss attempted to employ, use, entice, and coerce a minor into engaging in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of creating visual depictions.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation with assistance from the Allen County Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Lesley J. Miller Lowery prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 aimed at protecting children from exploitation and abuse. The program coordinates efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to locate and prosecute individuals who exploit children while also identifying and rescuing victims.
